(1) This clipper is more solid and powerful than consumer grade clippers. It’s the same one my local barber uses and cuts through my thick hair without bogging or pulling. It can run plugged in or on the built-in rechargeable NiMH batteries. When on batteries it is a little less powerful but still cuts fine and doesn’t bog in thick hair. It comes with a set of different sizes of snap-on cutting guides. The rechargeable batteries are user replaceable and the cutting blade snaps on and off for easy removal and cleaning. No fancy features, just solid powerful and simple.

(2) I’ve been buzzing my own head for roughly the past 15 years. I have thick hair and can’t use many of the cheaper clippers. I’ve generally had good luck with Wahl clippers. The only other brand I’ve like were Remingtons. I do prefer the cordless clippers for convenience so that drastically narrows the selection pool. It’s been my experience that a decent set of clippers (Wahl or not) would last me about a year before the blades dulled too much and/or the battery wouldn’t take a charge. I’ve had this pair for almost 2 years and they still cut as if they were almost new. I use them only on myself about every 2 weeks….same as other clippers. These have definitely just outlasted all the competition. Their even comfortable to hold and are fairly quiet as far as clippers go. When mine do eventually die, I plan on get another set!
