(1) My daughter has super sensitive skin. Every other sunscreen I’ve ever used on her caused her to break out in a horrific rash–even the ones advertised to be “chemical-free” for sensitive skin. Her skin is very light and easily burned, and I was starting to think I was never going to be able to let her go out in the sun. Our pediatrician recommended Blue Lizard becasue its what she uses on her own kids. It’s been a life saver. Now my daughter can safely play in the sun without turning into a tomato.
(2) Cosmetics database rates this brand very highly for safety, effectiveness at blocking uva rays and keeping stable. That’s why I bought it. It goes on thick but not greasy. Also doesn’t smell strongly of anything. And the active ingredients actually physically block the bad rays rather than absorbing them so you get much better protection. I used to wonder why the heck I still burned using spf 30+ cheapo sunscreens (thought spf was all I needed to pay attention to - turns out you can’t rely on that alone) and it must have been the ingredients because with this stuff I don’t burn. And a little goes a long way too, so makes the price more bearable.
(3) Knowing I was heading south and would be in the sun a lot, I researched sunscreens and chose the Blue Lizard Brand. Considering I live in Pennsylvania and spent a week in New Mexico, I only got a slight burn on my forehead. The sunscreen protected me very well. I applied it in the morning after breakfast and in the afternoon after lunch. I’m very pleased with the protection it offered. It’s less toxic than most sunscreens. Considering I haven’t used sunscreen in years and prefer not to use it, this was a wonderful product that protected me when I needed it.
